Fast Living Room Makeovers

You’ve been putting this off for a while, your living room is in need of a total makeover. Out of the blue you receive a call that your in-laws are going visit you from out of town! You have no idea on what to do but you need to update the room quick! This article will provide tips that will assist in making over your living room, while not having to spend so much money in the process.

When you are done your in-laws will be impressed and you will finally have finished redecorating the room that has been needing it for months.

Paint a Wall
Spending hours of work to paint your whole living room is not at all necessary. Focus on one wall and paint it a bold color that will blend with some of your present accents. Doing this one little thing can add amazing depth to the room. Doing this will add warmth and a great burst color to the room.

Can’t Afford New Furniture?
New furnishings on your list but you don’t have the money for it at the moment? How about buying some good slip covers? For the sofa, keep the slipcover one solid color, and then introduce accent pillows that will bring out the color of the wall you have just painted. Is there a boldly patterned throw around? Try casually tossing it over the back of a recliner, sofa, or rocking chair.

Take the furniture away from the walls and move it around. Move it into an intimate, cozy and welcoming arrangement. If you are going to add an area rug that will include the colors of the room, be sure to center it in the middle of the grouping.

Clear the Clutter
Clutter makes a room look disorganized and diminishes the size of the room. By removing clutter from the floors, furniture and table tops, you will be able to visually increase the size of the room! The room will look much better with its cleaner and more organized look. A general rule to follow is that a single table should never have more than three item placed on it.

Add more bursts of color to the walls to take it all a little further. Also, hang prints with simple designs that coordinate or contrast with the other colors of the room. Using only up to three colors will add interest without over complicating things. Finally adding a big vase of fresh flowers that are colored in shades to match the room, and a light warmly scented candle means that you’re done! Finishing up will mean that your living room will now be up-to-date.

At times, it will take an extra push for us to complete things that we've been meaning to do for a long time. It doesn’t matter is someone is coming over in short notice, or if all you want to do is changing things up a bit, these tips can work for you. You can transform the look of a neutral or otherwise boring room before dark tonight. By adding bold colors and accents to the room, you will have brought new life to the area.
